Jerryl - Musician/Composer/Producer/On-Air Personality

Jerryl B. was born in Harlem, New York City on June 19, 1963. 

Jerryl's enthusiasm for music began at an early age. He’d listen to his fathers jazz album collection which included Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, Errol Garner and Art Tatum. By the age of 11 he took up tenor saxophone and played at his junior high school graduating ceremony.  When he entered high school in 1977 he dropped the sax and taught himself guitar. During this time his mother bought him an organ in which he played chords and learned to play songs from the radio.

In 1981 after graduating high school and entering college, Jerryl took piano courses while living in Rochester. In 1989 he moved back to NYC to pursue a music career. He studied jazz piano with Mike Longo, took singing lessons and attended (the former) Center for the Media of Arts where he studied music production, editing, mixing and engineering. While interning at various recording studios in NYC, Jerryl saved up enough money to buy himself a drum machine, keyboard, electric and acoustic guitars, effects processors and an 8-track cassette recorder and started writing, producing and arranging his own music. He also played in various bands, produced demos and began performing at numerous clubs including (formerly) CBGB's, Downtime, and Kenny's Castaways.

 In 1993 Jerryl produced his first demo and in 1996 he set up his own label and production/publishing company, Lyrrej Records/Jerryl B. Unlimited Productions/Publishing.

In 2001, Jerryl released his debut instrumental CD titled “On My Own”. All songs were written, arranged, produced, engineered and mixed by Jerryl at his home studio in Yonkers, NY.

In addition to his own ventures, Jerryl worked as a Board Operator/Producer for Emmis Communications WRXP 101.9 (formerly WQCD CD101.9, NYC) and was also technical producer of the afternoon talk show on New York's 98.7 KISS FM, Love, Lust & Lies, with Michael Baisden and (formerly) The Deborah Rath Show on Smooth Jazz CD101.9.

In 2006, he has performed as a stand up comedian at various NYC venues including Stand-Up New York Comedy Club on B'way/79th, The Improv on 53rd and 8th Ave and the New York Comedy Club on 23rd and 2nd avenues.

In August of 2008 Jerryl gave a piano/guitar solo performance of cover tunes by Nat King Cole, Ray Charles and Sam Cooke at the Broadway Baby Bistro on 53rd/8th avenue.

On March 30, 2010, he released his 2nd instrumental CD/album under Jerryl B Unlimited titled, “From the Mind Of…” on his independent label, Lyrrej Records. It consists of 9 songs, including a remix, all written, arranged, produced, performed, engineered and mixed by Jerryl at his studio in Yonkers, NY.

May 5, 2011 Jerryl graduated from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting and is currently host of his internet radio show Classic Slow Jamz on www.onthamoveradio.com
